From 1982...
Presided over by Lord Brabazon and very
much ties, jackets and pink gins, the
club has come a long way since those days!
The sailing section flourished and
eventually needed its own premises, with
a move to Thames Ditton in 1982.
The club has seen a number of changes
since we moved here, including the purchase
of a flotilla of sailing dinghies; our own
club launch; a marquee etc.
We have also seen a lot of non-sailing
members join in recent years, including those
owning skiffs, motorboats, canoes and even
some who joined simply so they can enjoy our
fabulous spot on the river.

To 2006
Because of the new type of members we are
attracting these days, we changed the name
of the club this year to “The River Club at
Thames Ditton”.
Whilst we will always retain
a lively sailing section, organising regular
races and events, we are about enjoying the
river in whatever way our members want.
We have decorated the club house and are
intending to redo the kitchen later this
year, funds permitting.
The last 70 years have seen enormous change
since the stuffed sofas and formal dinners
of the 1930’s. Over the next 70 years we hope
our members will continue to adapt our club
into what they want it to be.
